Primary Care Trusts
Primary care trusts are responsible for planning and paying for the full range of health services for their respective communities. This includes services delivered by hospitals, GPs, dentists, pharmacists, and mental health trusts.
PCTs in the same county have recently joined together to form a cluster eg. NHS Derby City and NHS Derbyshire County are now working jointly together as the Derbyshire cluster with a shared management, although they remain separate statutory bodies. The same applies in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
NHS Northamptonshire has a shared management structure with NHS Milton Keynes and, as such, form a cluster. NHS Lincolnshire remains unchanged.
NHS East Midlands has five county-wide clusters made up of the nine PCTs. A map of the PCT clusters with information on their structures - including their Chief Executives and Chairs - can be found here.
