Improving Access to Psychological Therapies

A conference on Low Intensity Psychological Therapies is being held on Thursday 9 July at Trent Vineyard Conference Centre in Nottingham.  This has been jointly organised by NHS East Midlands, East Midlands Development Centre and the University of Nottingham as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) agenda.

This free conference will showcase the new world of psychological therapies and what it can offer to a wide variety of stakeholders and more importantly the public.  It is hoped by making this day free of charge to delegates, as many people as possible from the East Midlands and nationally will be able to attend.  This will ensure that the future direction and evaluation of low intensity working is shaped by their input.

The conference is aimed at trainee and qualified low intensity workers, commissioners and leaders of IAPT, colleagues from education, GP’s, voluntary sector, prisons, multi- disciplinary teams and the general public with an interest.

It will bring together the knowledge and experience of expert leaders in the field with backgrounds in policy, education and practice, coupled with the expertise of current and future trainees in IAPT services and educational courses.

By the end of the conference delegates will have received practical advice on producing materials in a range of multi-media resources that will help to improve their low intensity psychological therapies services. This will include copies of all speakers written presentations and filmed talks on DVD, as well as interviews with key people in the field.

Marie Chellingsworth, Course Director (IAPT) and Lecturer in Psychological Therapies at the University of Nottingham says: “Knowing what low intensity psychological therapies are and how they improve effective access to treatment is a keystone in Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) services, and for continuing good practice in the future.  We are keen for as many people as possible to attend the conference and learn more about this exciting agenda and how to apply this locally in practice.”

Places will be on a first come, first served basis.  To register please call 0161 7974484.  There will be no charge for attendance but £100 charge will be made for non attendance of delegates who do not attend who have booked a place or cancel 24 hours beforehand.
