Education Commissioning Contracts

Commissioning for Workforce Development

The Education Commissioning Unit of the East Midlands Strategic Health Authority (EMSHA) invests in education and training opportunities for pre and post-registration healthcare professional development.

Working in partnership with service and education providers the team aims to ensure the right number of high quality learning opportunities are commissioned to ensure the workforce of today and tomorrow are fit for purpose. To achieve this we aim to ensure the education and training we commission is:

1. of a high standard; meeting and surpassing national and professional quality standards;

2. responsive enough to meet the changing needs of a dynamic health service;

3. accessible to all appropriate staff without unnecessary steps and complications;

4. flexible enough to meet the needs of all professional healthcare groups and services;

5. sufficient to meet demand;

6. delivering the education required for a modern, dynamic, client focused health service.

This involves:

commissioning, contracting and managing a comprehensive healthcare education portfolio, comprising both academic and practice based education
supporting a flexible, accessible and credible suite of post-registration modules and courses;
developing and maintaining positive partnership relations with all our stakeholders including universities, service providers, local health communities, the Strategic Health Authority, professional bodies and the Department of Health;
ensuring effective quality assurance, monitoring and feed-back mechanisms.
