Start point:
The historical pattern of MPET funding meant that there waslittle transparency in how funds were allocated and a perceived lack of fairness in funding allocations between professions.
End point:
A tariff based funding process will enable funds to be allocated to trainees according to their training needs. This funding will then follow easch individual through the system, being allocated to HEICs (see later), trusts or any other body which contributes to the trainee’s development over time.
How we got there:
The progress of this workstream was fully dependent on progress at national level within the DH to establish the new tariff processes and ensure that everyone who will be affected by them is fully informed. We will continue to work with education providers to assess the impact of the changes and agree how to manage any resulting financial issues within the region to minimise disruption and effect a smooth transition to the new system.
