Request
Dear FOI Lead,
RE: Freedom of Information Request: Melanoma patient pathway survey
The Melanoma Taskforce - a group of skin cancer experts, including GPs, oncologists, nurses, surgeons and patient groups - is undertaking a survey (attached) of cancer networks, acute trusts and SHAs to assess the treatment and care of patients across the melanoma pathway. We hope to use the findings of this survey to inform a report that will make recommendations to Government about the standards of care that melanoma patients should expect up and down the country.
Your contribution to this survey is an opportunity to demonstrate your own good practice in the management and treatment of melanoma patients, as well as provide valuable information that will help facilitate decisions about pathway design and best practice elsewhere. We would be grateful if you could provide us with answers to the questions applicable to you in the attached survey.
The information from the survey will be used to evaluate the consistency and quality of service and care for melanoma patients in the NHS in England. We are particularly interested in levels of adherence to existing melanoma pathways, especially in diagnosis, referral and treatment and in any areas of best practice or excellent care that could be replicated throughout the country in order to improve care for all. The Melanoma Taskforce has a proven track record in providing constructive recommendations to Government about how the care of melanoma patients can be improved and we hope that your response to this survey will allow us to build on our 2015 Skin Cancer Visions.
