Our Response

I refer to your email of 24 February requesting information in respect of mixed sex accommodation.  I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) that we do hold some of the information that you have requested.

I will address each of your questions in turn:

How many trusts in your region are eligible to comply with the DoH programme to deliver same sex accommodation (DSSA)?
All Acute (8 in total) and Mental Health (5 in Total) NHS Trusts in our region are eligible to comply. Within Primary Care Trust (PCT) provider arms, only those PCT providers with inpatient beds are eligible (5 in total).

How many trusts in your region have yet to declare they comply with the DoH programme to deliver mixed sex accommodation (DSSA)?
NHS East Midlands does not hold this information.  However, Trusts will be announcing this on 31 March.

Name the trusts?

How many trusts do you expect will have funds with-held from them after March 31st as a result of this?
NHS East Midlands does not hold this information.  The decision to withhold funds from Trusts after the 31 March is a decision between the PCT commissioner and the Provider. The PCT will report to NHS East Midlands by exception when funds have been withheld.

Of the funds made available to you by the DoH to aid with the fulfilment of DSSA, how much has been spent?
NHS East Midlands allocated £8.4m to support a range of projects across a variety of organisations. All of this funding has been spent.

Have you or any of the trusts you are working with conducted any monitoring of patients or service users in relation to same sex accommodation provision in your area? (they are supposed to have done this on 3 separate occasions and submitted to SHA).
All mental health and acute trusts are currently collecting data to review patient/service user experience of same sex accommodation. This data is currently being analysed and collated and will be published by the Department of Health in April/May 2010.
