I am shortly due to have an operation. Given the attached. I read that you were warned last July about this virulent plague but you have done nothing about it. 'Planes are still flying in from the Indian sub-continent and 37 patients have caught this virus. Given the very slow response to to the relevant common cold MSRA my first wife died from, I assume therefore that you are responsible for the 36 cases. How many of these have died as a result of your incompetence? I therefore reserve the right to have my operation in any hospital in the world of my choosing and at your expense. Perhaps you would advise me a selection that has taken appropriate precautions from which I can choose.

NHS East Midlands is not aware of any cases of this new infection in the east midlands and we have not had any cases reported to us through the Serious Incident reporting process.
However, I do appreciate the concerns that you have raised in respect of your operation and would advise you to contact your local Primary Care Trust (PCT) to discuss these issues and ask any specific questions about your desire to have your operation with a provider that you are comfortable with.
