I would like to make a request for the following information:

1. What is your most current WTE figure for Staff in Post? Broken down into clinical staff and other staff if possible.

2. What is the trusts annual staffing establishment cost for 2009/10 (actual spend, not budget)? Broken down into clinical staff and others staff if possible.

3. In the financial year 2009/10, how many days were recorded as lost to staff absence?

4. In the financial year 2009/10, how many days were recorded as lost to staff SICKNESS absence?

Our Response

I refer to your email requesting information in respect of NHS East Midlands staff in post numbers and sickness absence.

I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) that we do hold the information that you have requested.

Please note that NHS East Midlands is not a Trust.  We are a Strategic Health Authority.

However, I will address each of your points in turn:-

1.    What is your most current WTE figure for Staff in Post? Broken down into clinical staff and other staff if possible.

2.    What is the trusts annual staffing establishment cost for 2009/10 (actual spend, not budget)? Broken down into clinical staff and others staff if possible.

• NHS East Midlands’ annual staffing establishment cost for 2009/10 was £29,055,190.  This figure includes:-

                     *East Midlands Healthcare Workforce Deanery staff -  £8,728,460 and;

                     *Teams hosted by NHS East Midlands on behalf of the DH - £7,746,560

3. In the financial year 2009/10, how many days were recorded as lost to staff absence?

• The total Full Time Equivalent (FTE) days in the financial year 2009/10 recorded as lost to staff absence was 8442.77.  This includes categories of Adoption, Maternity, Paternity, Sickness, Special Leave, Study Leave, Unpaid Leave.

4.    In the financial year 2009/10, how many days were recorded as lost to staff SICKNESS absence?

• The total FTE days in the financial year 2009/10 recorded as lost to staff sickness was 4255.30.
