Dear East Midlands Strategic Health Authority,
I am writing to request contact information for the person that is responsible for the training of qualified nurses within your hospital. This information needs to consist of name, address, contact number and email address.
I also would like to request the annual budget spent on nurse qualifications (post registration qualifications).
Our Response
I refer to your email of 6 April requesting information in respect of qualified nurse training.
I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) that we do hold the information that you have requested.
Please note that NHS East Midlands is not a hospital. We are a Strategic Health Authority (SHA) and as such, our role is to relay and explain national policy, set direction and support and develop all NHS Trust bodies (Primary Care Trusts and NHS Trusts providing acute, mental health and ambulance services).
We ensure that local health systems operate effectively and efficiently for our population of 4.3 million people. This includes making certain that national standards and priorities are met so that the population of the East Midlands is cared for in high quality, safe environments and services are continuously improved and developed. An absolute priority for us is improving health and reducing inequalities.
However, I will address each of your points in turn:-

Annual spend is £6.5m. However, this is multi-professional and, as a multi-professional organisation, we do not 'ring-fence' funding in professional groups but allow access according to demand.
